This piece is a adaptation of an old convertible form. Made of figured maple with a dye and wax finish. The wood was worked with a round bottomed "scrub" plane to provide the rippled surface. The bench seat lifts for storage beneath. The 3 battens in the top are attached with unglued sliding dovetails to allow the solid top to move without cracking.
